Pivot

Pivot

As a mom I've watched my children go from one hobby to the next. One day a stuffed animal is their favorite and then the next day it's something else. Homeschooling has become an eye opener for me; the love of learning and developing never ceases to exist. We fall down rabbit holes of learning- myself right along with them.

But somewhere along life's journey we become adult's who stop trying new things. Holding back because of fear or because of financial circumstances. At 18 we have the pressure of deciding what we are going to do with the rest of our lives. And then.. we get degrees that lock us in a career path. But what happens when we become burnt out and the things that brought us joy, change. Who would have thought that maybe our interest wouldn't be the same at age 34 as they were at 18.

Maybe you can't relate and you've always known you were going to be a doctor and thats working out for you. BUT I am writing this because I am at a point in my life where I feel the need for change. I don't think I am the only one who has ever felt this way, in fact I know that I'm not. As a hairstylist I've had many conversations with clients about how the trajectory of our lives seem to shift with age, experience, and time. What a really cool thing though, that we can pivot and change our lives. It's big and it's scary but if we don't let those things hinder us we find a spark, another rabbit hole we want to explore.

Scripture tells us in 2 Timothy 1:7 "For God will never give you the spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit who gives you mighty power, love, and self-control." The bible repeatedly tells us that Fear Does Not come from the Lord. Proverbs 29:25 says "Fear and intimidation is a trap that holds you back. But when you place your confidence in the Lord, you will be seated in the high place." You can continue with Philippians 4:6-7, 1John 4:18, Matthew 6:34, Psalms 27:1, and so on. There is a reason it's repeated so many times; BECAUSE IT'S HARD! It is hard to change directions in our lives without fear, without the "what if's" going through our heads. Yet God says "Trust me, I've got this".  So friend, if homeschooling your children, staying at home to raise your family, switching careers, or something else has been on your heart. LEAN INTO IT, PIVOT, LET THE LORD HAVE YOUR FEARS. It is ok to change your mind we've been doing it since we were children.

Welcome to my Pivot- completely change the way in which one does something.
